Day 31

Day 31 - July 19, 2007

Today was Karli's birthday! Yea! Me and Tan blew up balloons and went and threw them in her room in the morning. We went to The Huki Lau Cafe for one last delicious breakfast. We all got their amazing french toast, and ash got pancakes. We headed for the bus stop which is right in front of the Huki Lau Beach so we went and walked on the beach and Tanner bagged up some sand. We caught the bus and got off at Pipeline beach. Its Karli's favorite. And mine too of course. We were walking down the beach and it started rainning so we ran up the little hill and hid under some trees. We actually had to do this routine a couple times. We caught some sun, hunted for shells and beach glass and got extremely hot so went for a dip. Well today there was something different about the waves. They were huge, as always, but they were crashing way close to shore so it was scary. We went down aways where the waves weren't as big and hopped in. Me, Tan, and Kars were havin fun in the waves for quite some time and then we realized how far away from shore we were. So we started heading back in, but the current was so strong we felt like we were going no where! Well we finally made it to land exausted. Someone actually sent a lifegaurd out to us beacuse they were nervous the current was too strong. Ha ha oops. We learned our lesson to stay close to shore. After a little more sun we packed up and headed to Amy's Kahuku Grill beacuse we heard they have the best rice ever! Well we got off the bus to find its closed. Of course. So we had a half hour until the next bus came. We went in a little superette store and got a snack to pass the time. We caught the bus and headed home to make lunch. We got cleaned up, started making a cake for Kar, sat around, and planned our night. We decided to go into the Windward Mall and eat at Ruby Tuesdays, since thats pretty much the only restaurant around here. Kars opened her presents and they brought her a free ice cream sunday. After dinner we went to Kinkos to print off a picture we were giving Kali. We got home and gave Kali her gift, a cute bamboo frame with a picture of Sterling helping her surf and some chocolate covered mac nuts. After we all headed upstairs and sung happy birthday to Karli, and ate cake and ice cream. Next we decided to make some popcorn and head to the beach to eat it and light the rest of our sparklers. Well that was our last and final night in Hawaii :( we just got done packing and got to get some sleep so see you all tomorrow! Thanks for reading. But what happened to all the comments? We haven't had any for awhile... Aloha and goodnight!

Day 30

Day 30 - July 18th, 2007

Today Kali let us take her car for the day! She's the coolest. As soon as she got home from the dentist we we're off. We left around 11:30. After a quick stop at the post office, we were on our way to the beach they filmed LOST during season 1. (Where they crashed.) On our way we stopped in Hale'iwa and Ashley and I got Subway for lunch. Karli and Courtney took the car and got some snacks at 7-11. After our quick stop we headed west down the Farrington highway to the "other's village" from lost. It was so cool to see! It's crazy because it's right off the road! After looking around we headed to the beach. It's such a pretty beach with the mountains adjacent to it. Picture perfect! The beach is nice because it's big and has nice sand, but there are hardly any people. When we got to the beach we all looked for beach glass. There's a lot at that beach. We played in the waves, I hit my toenail against a rock under the water and my toenail is kind of loose now... I'm thinking it may fall off. So after our day at the beach we went to the Dillingham airfield to look for the plane wreckage of Oceanic flight 815. We got to it and it was fenced off with locks on the gate. They had a big black tarp over the main section of the plane! Stupid. We wanted to get in there. We lifted the bottom of the fence back and Courtney went in to take some pictures. From behund the fence we could see Mr. Eko's burned plane and other parts of the main plane. It was so sweet! So while Courtney was in the fenced off area, we saw an airport security guy drive up. We yelled at Courtney to hide. He told us we can take pictures here and everything but we can't go in there. Ha ha. He told us they put a tarp over it a couple months ago because so many people were going there to see it. Well duh! It's awesome! So after he drove off we told Courtney to come out. So funny! After our fun little experience we went back into Hale'iwa to look around in the stores. Then after another quick stop in town, we went to the famous Hale'iwa sign. I'm kind of mad though... they changed it. It used to be a guy surfer and there were stickers stuck all over the sign. Looked really cool. Now it's a girl surfer and there are no stickers. Driving home, we stopped at Waimea beach real quick so I could get some sand. I'm getting sand from a bunch of different beaches for my souvenir. Continuing on our way home, we stopped at a little store in Kahuku to see if they had any cool stuff. They didn't. They we're about to close and so they put all the cool antique stuff away. Our next stop was the grocery store to grab a few things, then finally our last stop was Domino's to pick up our pizza for dinner. We got home and had dinner & watched friends. We're just hanging out now. We may do a bit of cleaning and packing :( so we don't have to do it on KARLI'S BIRTHDAY tomorrow or on our last day. Wow, 2 days left. Just 1 full day. That is the saddest thing EVER!

Day 29

Day 29 - July 17th, 2007

Today we decieded to go to the Huki Lau Cafe for breakfast since it had been quite awhile. Sheldon decided to come along with us, and we had a yummy meal! We wanted to try a new beach so Sheldon dropped us off at Castles Beach, which you have to walk through a camp ground area to get to it. We were walking over along the beach to find a spot to lay out our stuff and we saw all of these little blue bubbles ramdomly along the shore. I found out later that they i think are a type of jellyfish. And Robyn says they sting and they hurt bad! We were all scared to get in the water for a while so we layed out, played in the sand, i built a sandman (a snowman out of sand) and Tanner made up some fun games. One is called CTAK- Courtney, Tanner, Ashley, Karli (sea tack). He drew a target and points for each area in the target. The object was to kick off your flip flop and land it in the target. Its actually quite entertaining! After a couple rounds of that, me and Tan went snorkeling and then we all took some pictures with Tanners waterproof camera he bought. It was around 2:30, we were getting hungry so we set off. We stopped at 7-eleven to get drinks and snacks and caught the next bus home. We made lunch and hung out and then decieded to go watch the sunset at Pipeline. We caught the 5:20 bus just to be safe, since the next bus was at 6:30 and we didn't want to miss the sunset! We got there and went seashell hunting, playing in the humongous waves, and went to take some pictures but my camera from earlier (It's really my dads camera) had died and the charger was missing, Karli's is broken, and Tanner's screen is still a little wet. I brought mine since it was our only hope, and yet there was no memory card in it!!! So sorry no pictures really today. We watched the beautiful sunset and found lots of beach glass! We caught the bus home, made dinner, showered, and now are trying to plan out our few days we have left in our paradise!

Day 28

Day 28 - July 16th, 2007

Today we decided to go to Sea Life Park. That's the same park they film 50 first dates at. We took the bus and it took about 2 hours to get there. We got to the park and headed to the dolphin show first because that was about to start. I love dolphins. They are awesome! We saw the world's only Whalphin. Cross between a whale and a dolphin. They said it was a complete accident. It was just a bigger dolphin. It was pretty cool. After the dolphin show we headed to the restaurant to get some food. I was starving! I think we all were actually. It was just alright... what can you expect from places like that? Not a whole lot. Not too long after lunch the next show was about to start. It was another dolphin show. This time it was in a tank and you could see underwater. The trainers would swim with them underwater and the dolphins would jump over them. Pretty cool stuff. Next was the sea lion show. They had a contest between 2 different sea lions. It was like a Miss America pageant and they competed to be the winner. It was pretty entertaining. After looking around the whole park, at the sea turtles, penguins, fish... we headed back home. It's a pretty small park, but it was fun! We got home and Courtney and I decided we wanted to go to one of the restaurants at Turtle Bay for this pesto dish they have there. Ash and Karli decided they were just going to eat at the house and meet up with us later to sit in the hot tub! So Kali told us that we could use her car tonight because she didn't need it. She's too dang nice! So we decided that Court and I would take the bus to Turtle Bay and Karli and Ashley would drive her car when they were done with their dinner. We met Karli and Ashley in the lobby of the hotel and headed to the snack shop to get a few treats. We got outside to the hot tub and not too long after sitting in it, it started pouring rain. Well we put our bags and backpacks under this bush to protect it. It kept pouring rain. At that point I decided I need to get out of the hot tub and walk over to a covered area to put our stuff under. We went back to the hot tub and enjoyed ourselves. It stopped a while later and so we went back to get our stuff. Turns out, the water got through my backpack and got to my phone and camera! I was so mad! Neither of them worked. On the drive home we stopped at McDonalds to get ice cream. That cheered me up a little. We got home and I got a fan and immediately turned it on and took apart my phone and camera and hoped they would air out and work. Long story short... (today is actually July 17th. I'm a day late on the blog) my phone and camera both work! Hallelujah!!!! I'm so happy! So that was our day. Fun, then tragic

Day 27

Day 27 - July 15th, 2007

Today we got up, hung around until it was time to get ready, the usual Sunday. We got out to the bus stop and tanner noticed that me, Kars, and Ash were wearing the colors of a stoplight. Red, yellow, green. Ha ha. So we took a picture of course. After church we were waiting at the bus stop and this little three or four year old hawaiian girl, that lives on the corner, came and started talking to us. I was worried her parents would be looking for her, or scared that she was out talking to strangers. She was so adoreable and wanted us to come back and paint her toenails tomorrow. The bus finally came and we started making dinner. Just the usual tiny pieces of chicken, potatoes, and corn. We miss your dinners mom!! Sheldon is having a mission reunion so we are just downstairs watching tv. We are sad this is our last sunday here. :( Welp not much else to say about today. Just these funny japanese kids keep coming down and watching me type this. Cross your fingers for sunny days, because right now the forecast isn't looking too pretty.

P.s. Mom and Dad have fun on trek! Be safe and drink lots of water! Love and miss you lots!!!!

Day 26

Day 26 - July 14th, 2007

Today Sheldon took us to Aloha Stadium to go to a swap meet. Courtney was pretty excited because she thought she was going to meet the cast of the movie "SWAT." She thought we were going to a swat meet. That was funny. Before we left we ran to the post office so Sheldon could pick up a package and so we could mail a few more postcards. Anyway, the swaPPPP meet was fun. They had booths set up all the way around the stadium. It was just like the International Marketplace in Honolulu. It was quite the experience. They set it up every week apparently. It rained on us a little bit. It was rainy all day pretty much. So after the swap meet we went to Pearlridge mall to get some lunch. After lunch we went in a few stores. Sheldon bought some "HI" shirts like the one I have. He bought 2. He said he did that so when Sterling says "Cool shirt!" he can be like... "Oh you can wear my other one." Ha ha. After we left the mall we took the H-3 back home. On our way, we stopped at the macadamia nut farm. It was raining pretty good when we got there. It was cool, they had samples of different kinds of macadamia nuts. Yum. Sheldon knew someone that worked there and was out talking to him. We went out and met these guys that had tattoos all over their body. They were working there serving cold coconuts and what not. This guy told us all about his tattoos. It was pretty interesting. He was saying that once they started that long process they couldn't turn back otherwise they'd be forced out of where they lived and all this crazy stuff. It was pretty nuts. We took a couple pictures and then headed home. We sat around at the house because it was raining. The girls made bracelets and stuff with their shells. I sat around... hung out. Then later on we decided to go watch the sunset. We went to sunset beach again. It turns out, it was too cloudy so there wasn't even a sunset at all! Bummer. It was still fun to be at the beach though! We waited for the bus to come and take us home. It was LAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE of course. It's US. We waited about an hour or so. Finally it came. We got home and made dinner. Now we're just hanging out and we're watching The Notebook with Sheldon, Lono and some girl that they know. Anyway... that was our day.

Day 25

Day 25 - July 13th, 2007

So decided today to go into Haleiwa today, probably the last time. :( It was really cloudy and rainy so we waited a while before we left. We took the bus to the Billabong store and continued down the road looking in shops until lunch time. Me and Tan ate at a mexican restraunt and davies ate at Kua Aina, which is burgers and chicken, across the street. Next we headed to the beach since the clouds cleared and the sun came out. It was a nice day at the beach and the waves were huge!! We had fun in the sun, snorkling for seashells, and watching the surfers catch some waves! After a couple hours at the beach we were craving Matsumotos. We scarfed those down and me and Kars bought a t-shirt. We caught the bus home and hung out until we decided what to do for the rest of the night. Sheldon was going to a movie and said we could use his car tonight so we headed to winward mall for dinner. Me, Tan, and Kars got hot dog on a stick and Ash got Arbys. After dinner we took a quick stop to get icecream and slurpees. I bought some sparklers on the 4th and we still hadn't used them, so we set down to the beach and lit only 1/3 of what we have. We had fun taking pictures and filming how big of fools we are. ha ha. Well we only have one week left. Sad sad sad!! We are going to squeeze as much in as we can!! Miss you all!
